Just when we Indians thought that the worst of the pandemic was behind us, the novel (a year later, is it still?) Coronavirus has reared its ugly head once again. And this time, it’s more pissed than ever, with every passing day proving to be deadlier than ever. But that still isn’t the worst part. What’s worse is that apparently the second wave in India hasn’t peaked yet, and people around the country still haven’t learnt the lessons that the first wave of COVID-19 gave them.

And while Twitter is known for its merciless trolls who mindlessly work round the clock to insult people, right now it is flooded with posts of people who are desperately asking, pleading, and even begging for help from others. While some of them are lucky enough to receive the help, many others have tried and failed miserably at it, most of whom haven’t survived to see this day.

Here are some tweets that perfectly portray just how grim the situation is in India as the second wave takes over:

1. Rahul Dravid wouldn’t be proud of this wall

2. Can election rallies also be please made symbolic, Mr Prime Minister?

3. When will people in New Delhi be privileged enough to breathe freely?

4. Err… Just a train carrying some trucks that will carry oxygen to patients. Pretty normal, eh?

5. But you can be a superhero… only if you’re responsible enough to take all precautions

Then others could still look at the lighter side of it all, and honestly, they’re all that we can laugh at right now (of course, apart from all the help that politicians are claiming to have provided):

1. Now more than ever…

2. Mr Vidhayak Chacha isn’t having the best time of his life though…

3. Can somebody ask the Health Minister to stop writing letters now that the Class 10 CBSE Board have been cancelled?

4. If this isn’t ‘jihad’ against Hindus, what is?

5. Apna time ayega kya?

With the second wave of COVID-19 more ruthless than ever, here’s to hoping that the people of India wake up to the grim reality of the situation before it’s too late.
